Let's be honest: the Climate Change Bill that passed the house a) won't be the same bill that passes the Senate and b) will probably watered down even more before it gets signed by the President. So I really have to wonder why aren't we willing to undergo a minimal amount of pain to start to have an impact on the environment?
Having said this, let's also be honest that what we do won't make that much of a difference if China, India (among others) stick to their economy over environment first philosophy.

I think if we were honest with ourselves, we'd admit that we would almost expect Michael Jackson to die in a similar manner that other über musician/celebrities have died. And in a way, it perpetuates their fame and/or infamy for a very long time.
